White Embossing

It's time for a new challenge over at Make My Monday. This week the challenge has been chosen by Pat and it is White Embossing. I decided to use   SU's Corner Garden stamp and emboss the flowers in white on black card. Yes I know my card is yellow!  After four attempts to emboss white on black I gave up. Either the stamped image didn't stamp properly - even using the Misti - or I ended up with specks of white where I didn't want them!

So I binned the black and pulled out a scrap of yellow, then coloured the flowers with Promarkers in shades of orange and yellow. The sentiment is a new one from Penny Black stamped in brown. I mounted the completed panel on dark brown card then into a 5 x 7 card blank.

I hope you will check out the rest of the DTs' creations and then join us.

Less is More - Handmade Flowers

Last minute for Less is More again! I finally managed to get into the craft room after boiler fitting, five visits from the washing machine repair man and house sitting while my partner had replacement windowsfitted (he was at work). I was definitely getting withdrawal symptoms. On top of all that when I did have a few minutes the room was like a sauna! Anyway here is my last minute card!

I spent yesterday evening making some roses with SU's paper clay. This is one of the larger ones which I pressed into a Versamark pad, then sprinkled some iridiscent embossing powder on and heated it gently. The leaves were cut with a Spell binders die. As the green mount and leaves were from my snippets box I'm also going to pop alaong to the Playground and see what has been going on there this week.

Seize the Birthday - Masculine

This week it is the turn for a masculine card using this sketch at Seize the Birthday.

I had intended doing the feminine version last week but never quite got round to it. Anyway here is my entry for the masculine one. My sentiment looks a bit wonky but it isn't IRL!

I have used Little Claire Designs Man Tree stamp. It is coloured with promarkers. I lightly sponged Pool Party ink for the sky and Old Olive for the grass. I think that has come out a bit too dark!. the paper is from Stampin' Up as well but is now retired. base card is Pool Party as well.

The Trials and Tribulations of a Golden Wedding Card!

Last week my OH rang me from work to ask me to make a Golden Wedding card for a former colleague to give her parents. After some thinking time I decided what to do and produced a card and matching box. When I showed him he seemed less than impressed and kept on about putting a butterfly on it! I was due to mail it Monday morning and against my better judgement, just before boxing it up, I decided to see what a butterfly would look like on it. Not nice, much too big. So then I decided to add two more roses (the original only had one). Squeezed the bottle of glue and nothing hppened as the nozzle was blocked, cleared it - or so I thought- gave another squeeze and the nozzle flew off dispensing Cosmic Shimmer glue everywhere! Fortunately most of it went down me and only a small amount on the edge of the card. Hastily wiped it off before changing trousers. Put them in the wasbasin with some water while I checked the card was OK. Went back to them a few minutes later to find they were sticking to themselves! A very hurried trip downstairs to the washing machine. Thankfully when they came out it had all washed off!! Back to the card. I don't think anyone would have noticed where the glue had been but I could see it. What to do-  should I start again?  No chance I quickly cut two more borders in cream and added them down the side.

Here is a close up of the roses

and the embossed detail

I used Spellbinders Vintage Lace motifs and accents, Creative Expressions floral embossing folder, Stampin' Up! framelits die for the centre which I stamped and heat embossed in gold with their Memorable Moments stamp set. The inside of the card was created in Craft Artist and mounted onto the gold shimmer card as well but I forgot to take a photo of that.

The box lid was also made from the gold shimmer card, the initials were made in Craft Artist.

I had an email yesterday to say she loved it - thank goodness for that. She also said it was perfumed which it took me a while to work out, then realised it must have been the lemony smell from the Grime Boss I had used to wipe the glue away with!

Hope I haven't sent you all to sleep with this long  post!

Seize the Birthday No 7

This week the challenge is for a feminine card using this sketch.

I used some Stampin' Up paper from the Amore range which I thought went beautifully with this month's Little Claire designs club stamp set. It has this beautiful tree in it, which was great fun to colour in with promarkers.

I'm sorry the photo is rubbish but it was the best of a very bad bunch! I'm seriously thinking of either making or buying a photo box to see if I can get better results!

First challenge card this year

My first challenge card of this year but only just in time for the challenge at Freshly Made Sketches.

Of course by the time I had made it I had to have the lights on to take the photo, then it disappeared against my ceam walls -so had to find something black to put behind it! It was made with a mixture of things, spellbinders dies, SU dies and some card oddments.

Penny Black Cat

I have had this stamp a long time and not used it, but as my partner's daughter is into cats thought it would be perfect for her.

I used acuttlebug snowflake embossing folder for the background with some retires Stampin' Up! paper. The holly spray is a Memory Box die and the snowflakes were made with a Martha Stewart punch and Stampin'Up die and were leftover bits from othe cards. The only colouring was on the holly on the cat's head and I used promarkers. The sentiment is SU.

5 years old!

It doesn't seem possible that my little grandson is already 5 years old! It was his birthday yesterday so I sent him this card as all little boys of that age like dinosaurs!

I used the Dinoroar stamp set  from Stampin' Up and cut out the letters with my Cricut.  If you would like to buy one of these stamp sets  you can find details of how to order here
